BEAUTIFUL SWITZERLAND!

OMG iow gorgeous is this place? No amount of photos can portray how lovely this place is. Unfortunately, the Alpine Pass is closed so we'll have to find an alternate route to Italy.

OUR JOURNEY STARTS 9th MAY 2012

The 2012 Crumball Classic is themed loosely on the seminal sixties motor racing film "Grand Prix", and so the route takes in several historic racing locations en-route to Monte Carlo.

In the main, entrants travel in "bangers" costing no more than £200 and the 1150 mile journey starts (for us) at Lancashire and ends in Nice, France.

There are 6 of us. We have an knackered old Jag and a knackered old Volvo. We are all travelling dressed as NUNS!

We'll start by travelling down to Dover to catch a ferry to Calais and then on to a hotel in Boulogne, ready for the start of the rally the next morning.

DAY-1 of the rally is a huge 450 mile journey through the Champagne country stopping by at the historic racing circuit in Reims before heading East to the medieval cobbled streets of Colmar, just South of Strasbourg for an overnight stay.

DAY-2 (230 miles) starts with a trip to the "Schlumpf Collection" of historic cars including the largest single collection of Bugattis. Then we head into Switzerland with its stunning passes and Alpine roads and pass over into Italy and Lake Como for a relaxing evening of lakeside eating and drinking.

DAY-3 (260 miles) takes us out of Italy along the lakes of Monza before heading South through Milan to Nice for the Saturday night Arrival Party!

DAY-4 we dump the old bangers and fly home!
